Pregnancy Yoga

Frankie Duggan
22 The Yard, St Werburghs, Bristol BS7 9YR

I teach a weekly pregnancy class at the Relaxation Centre, 9 All Saints
Road, Clifton. It's from 2-3.30pm every Monday and costs £7 per session,
or £27.50 for 5. I run the class as a drop-in so there is no need to book.
Classes run every Monday, except bank holidays and during the month of August.

For women who want to know more about what we do - in each class we:

  • practise movements and sequences to help mum's body adapt to itspregnant state, by making space for baby while also building stamina and strength,
  • work with the breath, sometimes using sound, to help breathe fully and effectively, to learn to release, and to bring conscious awareness to the natural 20movement of breath,
  • - and we finish with a deep relaxation practice. All the practices are also for the baby!

I also offer birth preparation sessions for women and birthing partners,
usually a half day at the weekend. I run these according to demand.
These include physical, mental and emotional preparedness for labour for
both mother and birth partner, using yoga practices:
  • positions and movements that may be helpful in labour,
  • positions to rest in (equally important!)
  • breathing
  • visualisation
  • affirmation/mantras
  • a deep relaxation practice, for mum, baby and birthing partner to enjoy together

There is also some time for discussion and questions, if people want this.
The sessions are small (4 couples) and informal.
I charge £30 per couple and the sessions are usually from 10am - 1pm.

I run postnatal sessions too, for Mums and babies together (up to a year old)

Ruth Bell (MTI, APNT) – Pre & Post Natal Massage.

Massage can help support the changing body throughout pregnancy, in preparation for the birth and after the birth.
A one off treatment or regular sessions can help to:
release lower back tension and improve posture, ease stiffness in the joints and increase mobility, improve circulation and reduce swelling, whilst helping to balance hormones and reduce stress.

I use a combination of Swedish massage, joint mobilisation and shiatsu points, tailoring each session to what you need at the time. The treatment can be deeply relaxing or more energising and stimulating. I can offer advice on exercises, stretches and look at postural awareness.
I qualified in pre and post natal massage with Well Mother UK, and hold a diploma in holistic massage with the Massage Training Institute.
I also offers sessions with birth partners, sharing massage techniques and basic shiatsu skills suitable for late pregnancy and as pain relief during labour.
Gift vouchers are also available. (A great present for a friend or relative).
